July AVCA meeting to feature Pat Dando

San Jose Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Pat Dando will be the guest speaker at the Almaden Valley Community Association (AVCA) monthly meeting Monday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at the Almaden Valley Community Center, 6445 Camden Ave.

Dando will speak about the role of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce as a resource for San Jose, Santa Clara County and Almaden Valley. She also will take questions from the audience, and discuss the current efforts to attract and keep business in San Jose and Almaden Valley specifically. Attendees will learn how they can support the Chamber's efforts.

As a resident of Almaden Valley for 30 years, Dando has an impressive record of community service to the Almaden community. She served two terms as District 10's City Council member, including a term as vice mayor. In addition to her service to the local community, Dando served in state government as director of local government affairs for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. She continues her public service through participation on numerous professional, policy and community boards and committees.

The August meeting will feature Rep. Zoe Lofgren, the area’s congressional representative for the 16th congressional district. She will speak on Aug.11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Community Center.

The Almaden Valley Community Association is a nonprofit community organization in 1961 to provide the developing Almaden community with an organization that would inform and reflect the views of that community in its developing years.
